Days are filled with ups and downs. Sometimes we feel like there is more bad than good, especially when we get frustrated. That’s part of parenting, right? Author Sandy Cameli gives us a great way to teach kids how to get past those bad parts of our day by focusing on the best parts in A Happy a Day Keeps the Grouchies Away.
On each page you can follow the characters through their grouchies to their happy. From young to old, you see each person’s low and how they can turn it around with what makes them happy. There is even a blank space for you and your kids to talk about what makes them grouchy and happy, as well as a page to draw what makes them happy!
This interactive book accomplishes two things; teaches a great lesson, as well as keeps you and your child's attention throughout. The pages follow the same structure to make it an easy read, while the illustrations are fun, colorful, and full of emotion!
Author Sandy Cameli (EdD) has been an educator for 30+ years in K-12 classrooms. She currently facilitates professional learning for teacher leaders through the Hawaii Dept. of Education and shares musings about leadership through the Teacher Leader Academy's blog. In 2011, Sandy was named "Teacher of the Year" for Hawaii District schools; and in 2013 Dr. Cameli completed her doctoral degree in Instructional Leadership. Sandy continues to support learning and leading in Hawaii's school today.
Colleen Madden has illustrated many children's books. When she's not drawing and daydreaming, she's out chasing chipmunks on a trail, learning how to make socks, and eating lots and lots of sushi. She lives near Philadelphia.
