Full disclosure: nearly all of our Christmas shopping is done by the time we publish this post. Yes, we have Halloween decorations up. We even have some Thanksgiving decorations waiting in the wings, and the chalkboard says “hello fall”. But we are just as guilty as every store you go into. We are ready for Christmas!

Continuing with books from the season, we got a great surprise when Elf on the Shelf contacted us about their new book Elf Pets: A Saint Bernard Tradition. First off, that means the word is getting out about our website (Woo!). Second, it means our kids not only got a great new book for the shelf, but a stuffed animal to go with it.

A children’s book should do a number of things: peek a child’s interest, keep their attention, and hopefully teach them an important lesson. This sweet story does all of these things and more! Elf Pets: A Saint Bernard Tradition shares the love of Christmas with every child in a very special way. It is the kindness and goodness we show to one another that creates Christmas cheer and in turn fuels the magic of Christmas itself. Not only do kids get to listen or read an enchanted tale of Christmas, but they get a tangible reminder of good in an adorable Saint Bernard pup!

This book teaches kids not to just be good to get something in return, but that each act of kindness helps Santa reach every little boy and girl. Throughout the entire year, each act of kindness is collected by your Saint Bernard pup. They then help deliver it to Santa so that kindness can be turned into Christmas cheer, not just for you but for everyone! What a great lesson for our kids to take to bed with them. Our children absolutely love this pup and our daughter loves putting her good deeds inside his barrel, making sure to store it up for some Christmas cheer.
